As S1000D grows in popularity, so does the need for conversion of legacy data. The legacy data conversion team at Daedalus have proven methods and custom software to convert your legacy data, whether it’s in Word, PDF or paper, into structured XML/SGML.
Daedalus have invested heavily in S1000D conversion software which has been finely tuned and customised for our requirements and for accuracy. On a large scale project this can save tens of thousands of pounds over conventional conversion methods whilst maintaining accuracy of output due to its ‘manual mapping’ methodology. This means that every single paragraph of the legacy text is physically ‘told’ which S1000D DM it belongs to before the conversion process is started, ensuring uncompromised accuracy. This method takes significantly less time at the start of the conversion than correcting the output errors of other conversion tools at the end. It’s a simple case of planning.
Daedalus will initially analyse and assess your data to create the necessary Data Module Requirement List (DMRL). This initial exercise will extensively list every page of text and every graphic of your legacy data and will map it to its new Data Module Code (DMC). This way you can see that all your data has been captured, you can see which DMs will be created, and it can be agreed and finalised by you prior to any conversion work actually taking place. If you already have a DMRL then of course we’re happy to work with yours.
